This affordable solar filter fits any Orion 50mm finder scope, so you can accurately aim your solar filter-equipped telescope at the Sun with a properly protected finder scope.
To view the Sun safely with a telescope, a specialized filter that covers the entire front aperture of the telescope is required in order to protect your eyes and the telescope's optics from harmful, magnified sunlight. Interestingly enough, the Sun can be difficult to center in a telescope that has a solar filter installed. This may seem like it should be a relatively easy procedure, but trust us, it's not! In many case, your telescope may be pointing just off the limb of the Sun, leaving an entirely black view in the telescope eyepiece. By installing this E-Series Safety Film Solar Filter on any 50mm Orion finder scope, you can precisely aim your protected telescope at our nearest star, so you can observe sunspots, eclipses, and more with welcome accuracy.
The Orion 2.32" ID E-Series Safety Film Solar Filter features a black-polymer film material that is stronger and more durable than other thin film solar filters. In addition, the black-polymer filter displays the Sun in a pleasing, yellow-orange color unlike the white, or especially unnatural blue shade cast by some other filter materials. The yellow-orange image of the Sun will yield high-contrast, clear views.
A strip of adhesive-backed felt is included to help ensure a secure friction-fit of the filter on an Orion 50mm finder scope.
CAUTION: Never look at the Sun, even for an instant, without a protective solar filter. Doing so can permanently damage your eyes.
